Lyon, confluence and traboules
Regional capital, Lyon stretches between the Rhône and Saône. Old Lyon and its Renaissance traboules, the Fourvière hill and its basilica, the Croix-Rousse and its silk-weaver past make up a recognised World Heritage site. A dinner in a Lyonnais bouchon, around a quenelle or a tablier de sapeur, makes for a generous first date deeply rooted in regional culture.
Annecy, Grenoble, lakes and mountains
To the east, Annecy shimmers on its turquoise-watered lake, lined with cycle paths and beaches. Grenoble, set at the crossroads of three valleys, offers an unrivalled Alpine panorama from the Bastille. Between them, the Chartreuse massif and the Vercors multiply the trails. A shared day by a lake or on a ridge brings people close very quickly.
Chamonix, Beaujolais and flavours
At the heart of the Alps, Chamonix and its view of Mont Blanc draw hikers and skiers. South of Lyon, the Beaujolais and the Côtes du Rhône unfold renowned vineyards. On Lyad, people from Rhône-Alpes share their favourite weekends; it is up to you to find someone to climb high or head down to a cellar and extend the connection.
